St. Britto Higher Secondary School is an educational institution founded by the then Arch Bishop of Madurai Arch Diocese Most Rev Dr. Justin Diraviam on 22nd June 1968 with the clear vision of providing the downtrodden youth of Madurai with formal education along with the values of the church. He planted the seeds of educational mission in Madurai city and transformed it into a Government –recognized primary school. During the tenure of the founder-correspondent Rev. Fr.T. A. Soosai who discerned the need of the local communities it was upgraded to a high school and later on as a Higher Secondary School subsequently.

The school has been named after St. John De Britto who propagated the faith of the Church and sacrificed his life for the cause of justice and love in the Tamil soil. In the journey of Holistic Educational Enlightenment the school has left behind the stupendous milestones igniting the minds of the youth of Madurai to stretch out their wings of fire.

This school takes a majestic pride to proclaim from the roof – tops that it has produced many successful personalities to the society and continues to provide quality education with character formation for the past 5 decades.

The alumni of this institution have been holding various key portfolios in the government and in the corporate sectors manifesting the formation of this institution in flying colours.

As this institution is entering into its 50th years of service and longing to celebrate the golden jubilee in the forthcoming academic year, this is the stipulated time to rejuvenate and enhance the institution with a face lift by placing this institution in a new golden era of holistic formation.

His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Antony Pappusamy, D.D. STD, the Arch Bishop of Madurai Arch Diocese guides our school as Manager.

Rev. Fr. Savier, who is at the helm of affairs, is splendidly leading us to new heights with his charismatic style as correspondent.

Mr. S. Joseph, an elevated teacher of excellence, has been adding glorious feasts of success to the eminence of our school.

Our school shines colorfully by dint of dedicated and passionate teachers of yesteryears and today altogether.
